From March 14 to 16, 2017, St. Petersburg hosted the Automechanika St. Petersburg Expo, a specialized trade fair featuring car parts, accessories, and equipment for car service maintenance.

From March 14 to 16, 2017, St. Petersburg hosted the Automechanika St. Petersburg Expo, a specialized trade fair featuring car parts, accessories, and equipment for car service maintenance.

Automechanika St. Petersburg – is a project under the global Automechanika expo brand, created by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH.

This brand of expos and fairs focuses on the automotive industry and post-sales support, and features every aspect of the industry, from spare parts to garage equipment and tools.

This year, the exhibition's participants included companies from Belarus, Germany, Thailand, Turkey, Pakistan, and various regions of Russia. Among the exhibitors, were such enterprises as Autochemie Bitterfeld GmbH; Darson Industries; General Optics; EKU FREN VE DÖKÜM SAN. A.Ş., NORMA Group, Baltic Bearing Company-Rus; Belcard, JSC; MASHIDA PC; Radiovolna, JSC; EF-E, LLC; GrandAvto TSK, LLC; and others.

The exhibition featured spare parts and components for passenger vehicles; accessories for SUVs, minivans, and trucks; rubber products for cars; bearings; driveline and shafts; shock absorbers and springs; a range of optical equipment and systems; solutions for process connections (clamps, connectors, and systems liquid transportation); filters; and plastic components and structures.

The Automechanika St. Petersburg Expo 2017 coincided with other related trade fairs: the St. Petersburg Technical Fair and the 11th St. Petersburg Partneriat for SMEs.

March 14 featured the opening ceremony for these events. The participants were greeted by Sergey Nikolaevich Movchan, Vice-Governor of St. Petersburg; Bakhrom Bakhodirovich Ashrafkhanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation; Zamirbek Maripbaevich Askarov, First Vice Mayor of the city of Osh, Kyrgyzstan; and
Viktor Mikhailovich Ikonnikov, Deputy Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region.

After the opening ceremony, the officials toured the exhibition and got acquainted with the innovations that were on display. This year, the joint exhibition venue welcomed more than 200 participants from 11 countries, including Germany, The Czech Republic, India, Turkey, Belarus, China, France, and 20 regions of Russia. Over three days, the venue was visited by more than 6,500 experts. 


One of the key highlights of the Automechanika St. Petersburg exhibition was the final stage of the 3rd Foresight Auto National Contest for young experts of the automotive industry. This year, this contest of young professionals received 71 applications from 17 Russian cities. The judging panel evaluated the works based on the following criteria: the novelty of the idea, the relevance of the project concept, technical competence, and creativity. On March 16, 10 finalists of the Contest shared their foresight ideas, projects, and inventions with the expert judging panel.   

Following the expert voting, winning diplomas were awarded to the following contestants:

  • I degree diploma to Viktor Gennadyevich Karpushkin (Novgorod State University n.a. Yaroslav the Wise, FSBEI HE) for the 'Convertible Wheelchair Electric Transport Vehicle (TIES)' project;

  • II degree diploma to Rahmatjon Islomovich Rakhmatov (MADI), for the 'Development and Improvement of Design Methods and Studies of Treatment Systems for Exhaust Gases of Motor Vehicles Based on Vibroacoustic Parameters' project;

  • III degree diploma to Vladimir Viktorovich Filatov (MADI), for the 'High-Speed Light Class Amphibia (Water Quadrunner)' project;

  • The judges also made note of a project by Robert Radikovich Gubaydullin (Kazan National Research Technical University n.a. A.N. Tupolev – KAI, FSBEI HE), giving it a special award for creativity. Robert Gubaydullin submitted a project called 'Developing the Channels of the Cylinder Head with a Special Form and Increasing Their Throughput'.

The Contest Organizing Committee would like to congratulate the winners and to thank the expert panel and the prize fund partners for their support.

The event participants and guests were especially appreciative of the Matchmaking Centre – an online service for arranging meetings, finding potential partners, and coordinating business negotiations according to a customized schedule. Over the 3 days of exhibitions, the specially equipped Matchmaking Centre area hosted 1,118 meetings.
