The future of the Arctic: how was the "RAO/CIS Offshore 2025"

The 17th International Forum on the Development of Oil and Gas Resources in the Russian Arctic and the Continental Shelf of the CIS Countries RAO/CIS Offshore 2025, organized by the LLC "EC" RESTEC" exhibition association with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Sciences, Gazprom PJSC, Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk LLC, and the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, has completed its work." and other key industry organizations.

The event brought together more than 800 experts, representatives of more than 180 companies and research institutes, who discussed the current goals and objectives of the development of Arctic and continental shelf resources. The forum was held for the first time as part of the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

The Forum opened on October 7 at the Mariinsky Palace and Expoforum Exhibition Center. The first plenary session, "Strategic Priorities of the Russian Federation in the Arctic", was held in the White Hall and included presentations by Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute, Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov, Governor of the Murmansk Region Andrey Chibis, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov and other honorary speakers.

The diverse business program covered the full cycle of work on the shelf — from exploration and development to transportation, Arctic medicine, ecology and information support. The organizer of the forum, LLC "EC" RESTEC", was supported by Gazprom, the general partner of the event.

The large-scale exhibition presented companies demonstrating advanced solutions for marine exploration, platform technologies, security solutions, marine medicine and ecology in harsh northern conditions. Among the key exhibitors are the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, Kurchatov Institute Research Center, Technekon LLC, ELGAZ LLC, JOINT PROFESSIONAL PROJECT AND SUPPLY LLC, Petroline—A NPP LLC, Ulyanovsk Industrial Fittings Plant LLC and Moskabelmet, a Group of Companies, JSC.

The key partners and co-organizers of the forum were honored at the reception. Dmitry Nikitin, CEO of LLC "EC" RESTEC " , presented thanks and memorable gifts for his participation and contribution to the success of the event.

On October 9, the forum hosted a Youth session dedicated to the role of a new generation of scientists and engineers in developing technologies for the development of Russia's Arctic and offshore hydrocarbon resources. Within the framework of the session, a competition was held to solve a technical case, in which more than 50 young specialists took part. The event was organized by Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC and LLC "EC" RESTEC " in partnership with Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk LLC.

An equally significant event was the award ceremony for the participants of the scientific, scientific, technical and innovative developments aimed at the development and exploration of the Arctic and the continental shelf (with the support of the Government of the Russian Federation).

On the final day of the forum, round tables on Arctic medicine, communications and navigation were held. Some of the forum participants attended technical seminars at the AIA, FSUE Krylov SCIENTIFIC Center and the Scientific and Production Experimental Complex of the Kurchatov Institute - Central Research Institute of KM Prometheus.

Thanks to a rich business program, numerous technical sessions and a large-scale exposition, the forum has become a platform for exchanging experiences, finding solutions and developing new approaches to offshore exploration.
